Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Petroleum Minister and CEO of the National
Petrochemical Company (NPC), said the industry’s strategic focus includes
integrating holdings and companies to achieve the plan’s objectives.
"The development of the petrochemical sector has always followed
structured programs, and in the first phase of the Seventh Plan, most projects
have already been determined," Abbaszadeh told state news agency NIPNA.
He noted that the plan targets an increase in petrochemical production
capacity to 131 million tonnes, but additional goals have also been set across
key product chains, including propylene, aromatics, and olefins.
"Each of these chains has been assigned specific quantitative
targets, outlined in Article 47 of the plan, in collaboration with NPC. We are
committed to achieving these objectives through prioritized projects," he
said.
A key priority is completing projects that support the methanol
downstream value chain, given the country's methanol surplus, and expanding the
propylene chain to meet downstream industry demand, Abbaszadeh added.
"Many of these projects will come online next year. We must
utilize all available resources to ensure a stable feedstock supply and address
existing imbalances in the sector," he said.
