Hassan Abbaszadeh, Iran’s deputy petroleum minister and NPC’s CEO, issued the appointment, citing Motaghi’s expertise and experience in the sector, according to a statement carried by NPC’s news agency NIPNA.
Motaghi will oversee efforts to expand downstream petrochemical industries, enhance value chains, and strengthen the infrastructure necessary for achieving NPC’s strategic goals. His responsibilities include:
- Assessing the potential for industrial clusters and petrochemical hubs across Iran.
- Analyzing industry trends, domestic consumption, and production growth to recommend market regulations.
- Coordinating with the Oil Ministry, Industry Ministry, and key stakeholders on regulatory policies.
- Monitoring global petrochemical prices and contributing to domestic price-setting mechanisms.
- Ensuring supply stability by regulating petrochemical feedstock distribution in Iran’s commodity exchange.
- Engaging with domestic and foreign investors to encourage investment in Iran’s downstream sector.
Abbaszadeh expressed confidence that Motaghi would contribute to the company’s long-term goals and reinforce Iran’s petrochemical industry.
