In his speech during the third phase of planting 500,000 mangrove
trees in the waterways of the Mahshahr area, Sedighi highlighted that although
the estuaries of Mahshahr were not originally the habitat for mangrove trees,
the initiative has proven successful. He emphasized that creating green spaces
and engaging in mangrove conservation are vital steps in reducing the impact of
pollutants on the environment and improving the living conditions in the area.
To date, approximately 1,100 hectares of mangrove forests have been
established in the estuaries of Bandar Mahshahr County, with more than one
million mangrove trees planted by the petrochemical industry.
Sedighi further discussed the ecosystem services provided by the
mangrove forests, including shoreline protection, water enrichment, flood
prevention, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity preservation.
He expressed hope for the continuation of these valuable actions by
the petrochemical industry, which contribute both to environmental protection
and corporate social responsibility.
