TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) hosted a high-profile meeting of its former CEOs to review challenges, opportunities, and achievements in Iran’s petrochemical sector, aiming to leverage their expertise for future growth.

Hassan Abbaszadeh, NPC’s CEO and Deputy Petroleum Minister, organized the meeting to foster collaboration and gain insights from industry veterans. Attendees included prominent figures such as Seyed Mehdi Hosseini, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Gholamhossein Nejabat, Abdolhossein Bayat, Abbas Shari Moghadam, Marzieh Shahdaei, Behzad Mohammadi, and Morteza Shahmirzaei.

During the session, Abbaszadeh provided a detailed update on production, project progress, and the seventh development plan's targets, emphasizing the importance of inter-company collaboration within the Ministry of Petroleum to achieve sustainable growth.

Participants discussed key themes, including:

  • Value Chain Completion: Nematzadeh highlighted the need for balanced development across the value chain to drive production and export growth.
  • Maximizing Capacity Utilization: Shari Moghadam called for regulatory enhancements and plans to revive underutilized facilities.
  • Overcoming Project Stagnation: Nejabat urged swift action to expedite stalled projects.
  • Energy Diplomacy: Hosseini stressed leveraging international partnerships for technology transfer and investment despite sanctions.
  • Reducing Feedstock Fluctuations: Bayat advocated strategic feedstock planning to mitigate supply imbalances and reduce crude exports.

Shahdaei and Mohammadi emphasized NPC’s role as an enabler, bridging public and private sectors while addressing operational and strategic challenges. Shahmirzaei noted NPC's efforts in credit-based product distribution, which has alleviated liquidity issues in downstream industries.

The meeting concluded with a proposal by Abbaszadeh to institutionalize biannual sessions, ensuring the integration of expertise from former executives to advance the sector’s goals.
