Iran Petchem Firefighting Contest Concludes with Top Teams Honored

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The 7th Petrochemical Firefighters' Operational and Technical Preparedness Competition concluded with the recognition of top-performing teams in a closing ceremony hosted by Shazand Petrochemical Company.

The three-day event, held under the auspices of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), featured 20 teams comprising 160 firefighters from various petrochemical companies across Iran. Participants competed in six operational and one theoretical challenge, showcasing their skills in physical, technical, and practical disciplines.

Addressing the ceremony, NPC’s Director of Health, Safety, Environment, and Passive Defense, Davoud Emadi, highlighted the dual objectives of enhancing physical agility and operational readiness alongside advancing the technical knowledge of participants. "These competitions reflect the excellence of the petrochemical industry's firefighting capabilities and serve as a platform to recruit young, skilled personnel while adapting to the sector's evolving needs through targeted training," he said.

Shazand Petrochemical's HSE Director, Ganjipour, commended the participating teams, technical committee members, and event organizers, emphasizing the importance of aligning industry firefighting practices with global advancements. "Firefighters must keep pace with modern knowledge and process developments. This requires greater attention and investment from industry leaders," he stated.

In the operational category, the Sabalan Petrochemical firefighting team claimed the championship with 172.5 points, followed by Zagros Petrochemical and Assaluyeh HSE teams, earning 160 and 148.5 points, respectively.

In the theoretical category, the top spots went to Shazand, Mahabad, and Kurdistan Petrochemical teams. Additionally, the Darya Polymer team received the Ethics Award for exemplary conduct.

The event underscored the industry's commitment to preparedness and innovation, reinforcing the crucial role of skilled firefighting teams in safeguarding Iran’s petrochemical sector.
