Speaking at a meeting with the CEO of the PSEZ Organization, he
highlighted that the comprehensive development plan for the zone incorporates
lessons learned from the existing facilities.
“During our visit to the PSEZ, we noticed a significant shift in
attitudes toward environmental considerations. Previously, companies needed
convincing, but today, under the zone’s policies, petrochemical firms are
proactively implementing effective environmental measures,” Lahijan Zadeh said.
He praised the Phase 2 development plan for adhering to environmental
requirements and emphasized that its site selection process followed
established standards. “The commitment to integrating environmental concerns
into this expansion is commendable and a source of pride for all involved,” he
added.
Lahijan Zadeh also referenced the agreement to address dust hotspot
No. 6 in Khuzestan province. This initiative, undertaken by petrochemical
companies in collaboration with the Basij Construction Organization, the Natural
Resources Organization, and the Department of Environment, represents a
valuable step toward improving environmental conditions in the Bandar Mahshahr
and Hendijan regions.
He noted that the PSEZ has set two primary goals: first, minimizing
current environmental issues, and second, leveraging past successful
experiences for the development plan. “These efforts are promising and signal a
brighter future for the region,” Lahijan Zadeh concluded.
