TEHRAN (NIPNA) - The Iranian Ministry of Petroleum unveiled a new
artificial intelligence (AI) framework for the petrochemical industry on the
final day of the 18th Iranplast International Exhibition.
The AI framework was introduced by Morteza Shahmirzaei, CEO of the
National Petrochemical Company, as part of the exhibition's closing events. The
document outlines the potential challenges and opportunities that AI presents
for the petrochemical sector, reflecting a comprehensive study based on
approximately 80 sources from 2021 onwards.
This framework explores various AI applications across different
segments of the petrochemical industry, including process optimization, energy
efficiency, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) improvements, and
transportation.
The AI framework identifies 14 key areas of application and
anticipates over 30 initial projects. This initiative aims to align with the
industry's developmental goals and enhance operational efficiency through
advanced technology.
