TEHRAN (NIPNA) - Arvand Petrochemical Company has achieved significant growth in production during the first four and a half months of 2024, despite undergoing major maintenance without halting operations.

Arvand, the largest producer of chlorine and PVC products in Iran, has maintained continuous production while conducting comprehensive maintenance. This effort aligns with the company’s strategic vision for 2026, enabling it to produce 699,375 tons of strategic products, marking a 9% increase compared to the same period last year.

The production of emulsion polyvinyl chloride (E-PVC) has seen the most substantial rise, with a 35% increase by the end of July compared to the previous year. Additionally, the output of ethylene dichloride (EDC) reached approximately 170,000 tons, reflecting a 15% year-over-year increase.

Vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) production also experienced growth, addressing market demands with a 12% increase, totaling 95,789 tons by the end of July. The production of suspension polyvinyl chloride (S-PVC) rose by 7.4%, reaching around 83,000 tons.

Arvand’s overall production of chlorine gas (CL2), crucial for petrochemical complexes in the Mahshahr region, reached approximately 150,000 tons, a 4.5% increase compared to the previous year. The production of caustic soda also saw a significant rise, with over 168,000 tons produced, marking a 4.5% year-over-year growth.

In tandem with increasing production, the company undertook several innovative measures. Engineers successfully replaced the insulation of the evaporator E-14004A / V-14004A and associated lines with aerogel insulation, enhancing operational efficiency and safety in the VCM unit.

Arvand, known as the most integrated chlorine and PVC producer in West Asia, collaborated with domestic technology firms to chemically clean the inner tubes of the R-14001B furnace in the VCM unit. They also applied nanocoating to tube sheets and convection sections in the furnace unit to reduce coke formation periods, boosting production stability.

Additional maintenance efforts included replacing air fans and preparing units to prevent future production halts, along with comprehensive overhauls of critical components across various units. These measures are part of Arvand’s broader strategy to enhance productivity, ensure operational continuity, and increase shareholder value.
