TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Eight contracts and memoranda of understanding aimed at developing the value chain of the petrochemical industry were signed at the 28th Iran Oil Show.

Eight contracts and memoranda of understanding for the development of the value chain of the petrochemical industry were signed at the twenty-eighth International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition on Saturday.

Payam Barzegar, CEO of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization, signed eight contracts and memoranda of understanding to implement downstream development projects aimed at completing the value chain of the petrochemical industry, in the presence of Morteza Shahmirzai, CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), on the last day of the twenty-eighth International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition.

The contract for the production of benzene and gasoline from pyrolysis gasoline with an annual production capacity of 86,000 tons, as one of the driving projects of the value chain, to combat sanctions and achieve self-sufficiency, was signed with Sadra Khuzestan Petrochemical Company, and the contract for the construction of a pipe coating and Gas Tight sealant production plant with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons, with Reeva Tadbir Company in collaboration with a foreign investor from China, was signed.

Furthermore, memoranda of understanding were signed for the construction of olefin unit and downstream polymer units with an annual production capacity of 2.012 million tons with Almas Mahshahr Petrochemical Company, the construction of a propylene park with an annual production capacity of 493,000 tons with Sanat Parsian Company, and the production of methylamine and downstream chain with an annual production capacity of 36,000 tons valued at 51.5 billion dollars with Petro Sam Eurasia Company to complete the petrochemical value chain, strengthen the capacity of the private sector, and achieve domestic self-sufficiency.

According to the report, the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the production of yarn, fabric, liner, and jumbo bag with an annual production capacity of 6,000 tons for the development of downstream industries and the utilization of capacity and strengthening the private sector with Oja Tadbir Alborz Company, the memorandum of understanding for the production of pharmaceutical raw materials and pure chemicals from petrochemicals with an annual production capacity of 112,000 tons to complete the petrochemical value chain and achieve the country's self-sufficiency with Jaber Ozanogoo Chemistry Company, and the memorandum of understanding for the production of caustic soda solution with an annual production capacity of 11 ,000 tons with Parto Exir Gharb Company, was signed with foreign investment from Uzbekistan.

Payam Barzegar, CEO of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization, stated at the ceremony, emphasizing the organization's goal of achieving the slogan of the year in the Mahshahr region in the fields of generation and investment: "Land permits for an area of 3,000 hectares will be obtained in the near future for investment in value chain projects."

He added: "The comprehensive plan of this region is being drafted, and we hope that its implementation operations will start by the end of this year, and its development will reach a level similar to the current special economic zone in less than 15 years."

The twenty-eighth International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, with the slogan "Oil Industry; Production Leap, Technological Optimization," was held from Thursday for four days at the permanent exhibition halls of Tehran International Exhibitions.

More than 1,750 Iranian and foreign companies are participating in this major oil event in various sectors, including upstream oil and gas companies, domestic producers, middle and downstream gas industries, refining and petrochemicals, research-based companies, technology parks, universities, startups, and other companies related to the oil industry.
