TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Emphasizing the significance of energy consumption optimization in the petrochemical industry, Iran's Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company has urged companies and petrochemical holdings to actively manage and standardize their energy consumption.

Morteza Shahmirzai, during the second joint session for formulating the vision and strategies of the modern petrochemical industry with a focus on energy management and optimization, stated, "All companies and petrochemical holdings must contribute maximally to identifying methods and standardizing the optimal use of energy carriers and energy-intensive equipment, creating value in this industry."

The Deputy Minister of Petroleum, referring to the close collaboration between the Ministries of Petroleum and Energy in the field of energy consumption optimization across industries, added, "In the seventh and eighth development plans for the petrochemical industry, the topic of energy consumption optimization management has been evaluated with respect to the existing infrastructures in the petrochemical sector, and its implementation is a priority."

Morteza Shahmirzai highlighted that the strategic policy of the National Petrochemical Company involves moving away from crude sales and moving towards completing the value chain and producing high-value-added petrochemical products.

He noted, "Completing the loops throughout the value chain, with the goal of diversifying the petrochemical product basket to meet domestic market demands and increasing exports through indigenous technical and commercial knowledge, is a priority in the current and future petrochemical industry programs."

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company continued, "Indigenous technical knowledge internalization, catalyst production, domestic manufacturing of goods, and provision of required equipment for the petrochemical industry are among the most emphasized and focused strategies."

He asserted, "Producing various catalysts through localized technical knowledge plays a significant role in the development of the petrochemical industry, and with the active role of the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, we are soon achieving self-sufficiency in this field."
