The project will be the first plant to complete the butane
feedstock supply value chain.
Makan Shamloo, the CEO of Ibn Sina Petrochemical Company, said
the first phase of the maleic anhydride project includes the butane separation
unit and will be put into operation soon, adding maleic anhydride is widely
used in the production of unsaturated resins and now a large part of the
country's needs in the production of unsaturated polyesters is met through
imports.
He said once the plant comes online, it will fully supply
the country with its demand for the item and half of its output will be available
for exports.
Shamloo continued that the project has so far made 50%
progress and its first phase will become operational in the near future.
By exploiting this plant, for the first time, it will be
possible to commercially produce three products of maleic anhydride, isobutane
and normal butane in Mahshahr. And numerous. These items have various
applications in complementary industries such as manufacturing and production
of various types of polyester resins, automotive, marine, electronics, and
various types of fibers.
