TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) says plans are under way to hold meetings with European countries in the near future.

Speaking in a meeting with the Serbian ambassador to Tehran, Behzad Mohammadi announced NPC’s plans to diversify the export markets of petrochemicals, and said: "Bilateral meetings with European countries will be reviewed and finalized in the near future."

According to NIPNA reporter, Behzad Mohammadi, on the sidelines of a meeting with Serbian Ambassador to Iran Dragan Todorovic on the last day of the 14th Iran Plast exhibition, described the meeting as very desirable, and told NIPNA: “The National Petrochemical Company has put on its agenda diversification of the markets of petrochemical products, especially polymer products, in European countries.”

He considered Serbia as one of the export destinations for Iranian polymer products, and continued: "This issue will be reviewed and finalized by holding bilateral meetings in the near future."

Mohammadi pointed out that the current status and development plans of Iran's petrochemical industry were explained to the Serbian ambassador to Iran, which sparked a lot of attention, adding that the plan to increase Iran's polymer production from currently 9 million tons to 21 million tons per year by 2025 was very attractive.

Mohammadi, who is also Deputy Petroleum Minister for Petrochemical Affairs, continued: "With the realization of the plan to increase polymer output of the country, Iran can be more active in European markets in the future."

Serbian Ambassador to Iran Dragan Todorovic, after meeting with the NPC CEO, said that Iran is a powerful country in the petrochemical industry: "This exhibition shows that the development of Iran's petrochemical industry continues."

He described the talks with the Deputy Minister of Petroleum and the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company as useful and constructive: "Today, I was briefed about the latest status of Iran's petrochemical industry and we are interested in expanding cooperation in this field with Iran."

The 14th Iran Plast Exhibition ended on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, after four working days.
