TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The output of Iran’s petrochemical plants rose by 6 percent in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21 compared to the same period last year.

Director of Production Control at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) announced a 6% increase in the output of petrochemical facilities in the country, predicting the sector’s output would grow 7% year-on-year by the end of the year despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seyed Jalal Mirhashemi said half of the growth was made possible by streamlining processes in the operational plants across the country and the other half was obtained by launching new facilities.

"I hope the production of this industry will reach around 61 million tons this year, and without a doubt, we would have seen more growth in this industry in the absence of coronavirus,” he said.
