Addressing a virtual ceremony to launch the first phase of
Bushehr Petrochemical Plant, Mohammad Rezvanifar said inauguration of the project
would increase the production of petrochemicals, prevent the sale of raw
materials, provide the country's hard currency revenue, complete the value
chain and produce more value-added items.
The CEO of Shastan said the plant was being built in 70
hectares of land in three phases. The first phase will provided ethane,
methanol and utilities like oxygen, industrial water and transmission lines.
He further stated that the first phase would operate with 1.323
million tons of methane, 850,000 tons of ethane, 130,000 tons of propane,
30,000 tons of butane, 3,000 tons of pentane plus, 125,000 tons of sulfur and
1.65 million tons of methanol per year.
As he said, an investment of €1.332 billion was made for
construction of the project.
In the second phase, ethylene glycol and other by-products
and in the third phase will be acetic acid and vinyl acetate will be produced.
The CEO of Shastan continued that the phase would supply 4
million tons of petrochemicals annually provided that enough feedstock is
supplied to the facility.
Bushehr Petrochemical Plant has generated 9,000 direct and
thousands of indirect jobs, the official added.
