Addressing a
press conference on Monday, Jalil Ghasammi said that PGPIC had planned to
complete the methanol value chain in the country which would guarantee sale of
Apadana’s output.
He said
methanol plants created a lot of value added, stating that as a mother company,
PGPIC had devised the required plants for consuming the output of Persian Gulf
Apadana Petrochemical Plant.
The facility
is developed for production of 1.65 million tons of methanol annually and was
being developed with an estimated capital of €462 million, he added.
The official
further said that tapping local potentialities and domestic manufacturers’
capacity was a major concern for developing the project, adding efforts had
been made to supply all the required items from local suppliers.
Iran’s
current methanol output stands at 8.3 million tons per year of which only
300,000 tons are consumed domestically and the rest are exported, he added.
